Dear Seabiscuit,

I hope you know how grateful I am that you’re in my life. We’ve been through so much in our years of friendship and I’m so glad we’re still friends despite it all. You’re always one of the first people I want to tell things and I hope I’m the same for you (lord knows you’re Ms. Popular).

I’ve always thought that we related pretty well because of our circumstances in life. Of course I can never fully understand every moment and every feeling, but I’ll always listen and lend you a shoulder to lean on. I know you’d do the same for me. You’re truly an incredible friend. I don’t know a lot of people that will text daily just to check on people. I don’t know if it’s because you think you’re missing out on something or whatever. You’re not missing a thing. I don’t really leave my house.

I remember a conversation once about the whole distance thing. Just know that no matter where life takes us, you will always me a friend to me. No amount of time or distance can change that. I hope you truly understand that. I know how your mind works. Sadly. I know you’ll continue to have doubts but that’s okay. You’re kind of stuck with me and I have no problem reminding you of that from time to time.

I also want to say that I’m so proud of you. You’ve accomplished so much and you’re as young as I am. It might not be amazing in your eyes but in mine your accomplishments are truly something. You seem to have your academic life figured out and have a clearer idea of what you want as a career. That’s something not many people our age can say or do. Most of us are wandering around searching to figure that out. And I thank you for your support as I continue finding my niche.

You’ve come such a long way from the girl I met sophomore year of high school (10A will forever be the greatest class). I know you’ll continue to grow and hope you see your self-worth. I think you’re pretty great and I know for a fact that others do to. Perhaps one day you’ll not only see that but believe in yourself the way I do.

Thank you for being an incredible friend to me. You will forever be part of the family I got to chose. And I couldn’t have chosen a better person. Have an awesome 21st. Get crazy drunk, do wild things, and regret absolutely nothing.
